Why is it so hard to be happy every day?
One of the main reasons it is so difficult for most people to maintain a sense of happiness is because you have been taught to seek happiness that is dependent on something or someone.
If you get a new car, you feel happy until the car breaks down, then you are unhappy. If you go on a relaxing vacation you’re happy until you get back to work. You meet someone new you’re happy until the new person doesn’t work out to be quite so nice. The list of dependent happiness is never-ending.
As we get older, this innate happiness gets contaminated by the expectations of what you are taught will make you happy. Especially in this day and age, where you are bombarded by advertisements everywhere telling you that this new thing or that new thing will make you happy. You are also told if you look a certain way or behave a certain way, you will be happy. Of course this type of happiness either is very short lived or does not happen at all. It is like we have been mesmerized into believing this nonsense to be the truth, and a lot of people have become very wealthy by us supporting these lies.
For some, the stress of their lives makes it difficult to be in touch with this happiness.
This can be more complicated because of things or situations that have happened, or are still happening, that need to be processed and transformed. But it is not an impossible task.
Real happiness cannot be dependent on anything outside of you. Happiness that is lasting is a happiness that you already have within you. Real happiness is innate - we are born with it. Learn to re-discover this feeling that is truly yours. If you need help, I am here.
